About PRP Therapy
Sheer Beauty Medical Skin Care in Redlands, Upland, and Riverside, CA is pleased to offer platelet-rich plasma therapy to area men and women. PRP therapy is an extremely popular cosmetic procedure that offers natural results. PRP is the use of your own plasma to reinvigorate your skin, thus reducing fine lines and wrinkles. PRP is often used in conjunction with other aesthetic procedures, such as microneedling, to rejuvenate the youthful glow of your skin. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ben Childers, the founder of Sheer Beauty Medical Skin Care, would love to discuss the benefits of this procedure during a consultation, at your convenience.

Men and women who have dynamic wrinkles, volume loss, uneven skin tone, and droopy skin are ideal candidates for PRP therapy. Since it naturally promotes collagen production, it is also a great treatment option for those with tired or dull-looking skin. Individuals with certain skin conditions, blood disorders, or anemia are generally not eligible for PRP therapy.
Once you are seated comfortably in one of our private treatment rooms, a small amount of blood will be drawn from your arm and placed in a centrifuge machine. Typically, we draw about four tablespoons or one vial's worth of blood. After about 15 minutes, the different components of the blood will be separated and ready for injection. We will place the concentrated plasma into a sterile syringe and inject it into the designated areas of the face that were discussed during your initial consultation. This process usually only takes about five minutes.
What to Expect
Platelet-rich plasma naturally promotes collagen production and elastin to create a tighter and younger look to the skin. Since it utilizes your own blood, there is no risk of allergic or adverse reactions. Naturally, the face may be a little red after treatment as some traces of red blood cells will be included in the plasma injection. A cold compress can be applied to the injection site to ease any discomfort or minor swelling. We recommend patients receive treatments every 4 – 6 weeks.
